Job Description:
Community Opportunity Center is seeking caregivers who love to
cook as well as providing excellent care in our Livonia and Redford
location.
The cook would special dinners for birthdays, Holidays and any
special event. This can be a fun and rewarding position. The
special person would get to ensure the folks each fun, healthy
balanced meals while providing care. There can be planned picnics,
Bar B Qs at the home, parks or beaches.
Specific Duties: (Include but are not limited to the following)
Cook a minimum of one complete meal per day in accordance with the
planned menu with adherence of resident's dietary needs. The meals
are to be well balanced, well prepared, nutritious, pleasing to the
eye and palate. Encourage assistance from residents when
possible.Prepare, assist or supervise individuals in the
preparation of meals in accordance with menus and acceptable
nutritional standards.Shop for groceries according to planned
menus, support dietary requirements, keep within the home's food
budget. Purchase supplies, materials and goods needed for the
home.Properly store and label food as per the Michigan Department
of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) licensing regulations.Maintain
kitchen, garage area and freezers, clean refrigerators, clean
stoves and ovens, mop floor daily and other areas of the homes as
requested.Supervise or assist persons in meal cleanup, overall
cleanliness and maintenance of their home.Encourage wellness
activities and document accordingly.Assist in the implementation
and documentation of individual planned programs for each person
which will include completing requested data for DWIHN and supports
coordinating agency and individuals. Assist in instructing people
in skill areas of:a. Self-sufficiency e. Employment
b. Nutrition f. Community resources
c. Physical health care g. Emotional maturity
d. Social development h. Communication
Assist in teaching skills needed including appropriate
interdependence.As needed, transport persons to and from places of
employment, activities and appointments.Accompany individuals to
programmatic and necessary personal activities and appointments,
including shopping in the community.Completes accident or incident
reports as needed /required.Dispense and document the
administration of medications in accordance with approved
guidelines.Participate regularly in staff meetings and other
assigned meetings including in-service training programs.Work
cooperatively with families/guardians, other agencies or service
providers and appropriately address or channel concerns and or
problems.Perform other assigned duties related to the field of
service and to the maintenance of the home.
