a Systems Engineer Senior job located in Dearborn, MI 48126
Job Description:
This job opportunity is a Systems Engineer Senior for one of the
major automotive companies based out of Dearborn, Michigan.
A few key responsibilities include:
• Support 1000+ Linux/AIX servers in Data Center 24x7
• Applying patches, installing infrastructure software, managing
file systems, monitoring performance
• Troubleshooting alerts from monitoring system for system error
conditions (system down, disk full, CPU busy, memory full etc.)
• Servicing tickets submitted by developers (configuration;
troubleshooting; s/w installation assistance)

Skills Required:
• In-depth troubleshooting of at least 2 Unix operating systems
(HP-UX, Solaris, AIX, Linux) .
• Automating tasks using a scripting language (ksh, perl etc) .
• Analyzing performance issues .
• In-depth experience with at least 2 Volume Managers (Veritas, HP
LVM, IBM LVM, SUSE LVM, Sun SDS) .
• Customer interface experience (managing expectations; negotiating
compromise solutions)
Experience Required:
• Supporting a network of at least 100 systems 24x7
• Experience managing the escalation of cross-functional problems
with multiple vendors
• Leadership experience (of a team or of an implementation
project)
Experience Preferred:
• Data Center experience (change control; ticketing systems;
coordinating with other support groups)
• SAN experience (SVC, MetroMirror, Multipath)
• Experience defining technical standards for an organization
• Experience managing projects
Education required: .
BS in technical field or 5 years experience
Additional Education Preferred: UNIX/Linux Certifications
