Job Description Job Description Key Responsibilities/Essential
Job Functions Follows appropriate safety procedures (e.g., DOT,
OSHA, EPA, RIS, etc.) when transporting waste materials over the
road and in the plant. Checks vehicle after driving to ensure that
mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working
order. Performs vehicle inspection in accordance with applicable
state and federal regulations. Communicates need for service or
repair. Establishes and maintains customer focused working
relationship with all company customers (internal and external).
Obtains receipts or signatures when loads are delivered. Checks all
load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and
accurate. Maneuvers truck into loading or unloading positions,
follows signals from loading crew as needed, checks that vehicle
position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly
positioned. Drives trucks with capacities greater than 26,000 lbs,
including tankers, rolloffs and vans, in order to transport and
deliver waste or other materials. Secures cargo for transport,
using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, and/or covers. Reads shipping
paperwork (i.e., bills of lading and manifests) to determine
assignment details. Reports vehicle defects, accidents, traffic
violations or damage to vehicles in accordance with company policy.
Maintains truck interior and safety of equipment and personal
protective equipment. Maintains a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with
no at-fault accidents for the past three years and no major
convictions. Completes all required safety training, operational
procedures training, RCRA training (initial and current), equipment
and machine training, and other training as provided and required
by RIS. (Required training is subject to change over time due to
regulatory changes, changes in operational requirements/needs and
as subject to management discretion.) While not transporting
material, performs the following Receiving Operator II (minimum)
duties successfully: Manage TSL accuracy Responsible for mobile
equipment and container scanning accuracy Compliance optimization
of non-CSF locations (Holding, Staging, North and South sides of
CSF, OSB pad) Weigh, rack and set up containers. Load empty drums,
lids and rings. Load drums onto flatbeds. Prepare trans-shipment
containers per DOT regulations. Perform minor maintenance. Perform
housekeeping duties as required. Performs other Receiving Operator
tasks as appropriate. Operates off-road equipment (e.g.,
rubber-tired, front-end loader with bucket and drum clamps, tow
motors and other front-end loaders). Performs all duties with the
highest regard for safety and compliance, following all safety and
operations policies, directive, rules and guidelines. Works
outdoors in a plant environment with exposure to noise and dust.
Works 12-hour shifts and overtime, as customer and business needs
require. Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed and in
accordance with safety policies and procedures. Understands both
RIS’ OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health & Safety and ISO 14001
Environmental Management Systems, and assists with executing their
objectives. Performs other job-related duties assigned. Minimum
Qualifications Must be able to work 12-hour shifts on a regular
basis and additional hours as required for overtime. Ability to
operate a front-end loader, forklift or tow motor is a plus. Must
be able to use personal protective equipment (PPE), including a
respirator and chemical protective equipment. Must have functional
capacity to safely work under and on-top of large equipment on a
regular basis. High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
Must have the ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls
of a vehicle to exact positions. Must have the ability to
coordinate two or more limbs (i.e., two arms, two legs or one leg
and one arm) while sitting or standing. Must have the ability to
see details at a distance. Must have the ability to judge which of
several objects is closer or farther away from you or to judge the
distance between you and an object. Must have the ability to tell
when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. Must have the
ability to see details at close range (within a few feet the
observer). Must have the ability to time movement or the movements
of a vehicle in anticipation of changes in the speed and/or
direction of a moving object or scene. Must have the ability to
quickly respond (with the hand, finger or foot) to a signal (sound,
light, picture) when it appears. Must have the ability to choose
quickly between two or move movements in response to two or more
different signals (lights, sounds, pictures). It includes speed
with which the correct response is started with the hand, foot or
other body part. Must have the ability to know a location in
relation to the environment or to know where other objects are
located. Must be fluent in English with the ability to read and
interpret documents such as safety rules and instructions,
operating and handling instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be
able to write efficiently and effectively to prepare and maintain
sufficient documentation of work related activities. Must have
functional capacity to meet physical demands required to
successfully and safely perform the essential functions of the job.
