Job Description BUS SERVICE DISPATCHER The Charter Township of Redford Employees--- Civil Service Commission is accepting applications for full-time BUS DRIVER DISPATCHER . SALARY : $13.13 --- 16.87 per hour, plus excellent partial paid benefits including health insurance, defined benefit pension, vacation, sick leave, and 13 holidays. REDFORD TOWNSHIP PERSONNEL OFFICE 15145 BEECH DALY ROAD REDFORD MI 48239 Or you may scan and email to personnelredfordtwp.com (Faxes will NOT be accepted) CLOSING DATE FOR FILING : By 11:59 P.M., May 26, 2022 or Until Filled BUS SERVICE DISPATCHER DEPARTMENT : Dial-A-Ride REPORTS TO: Senior Services Advisor Purpose Schedule, dispatch and drive as needed for the bus service transportation for the residents of Redford Township. Essential Functions: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include, but are not limited to the following duties, responsibilities, tasks, knowledge---s, skills and other characteristics. This list of Duties and Responsibilities is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not intended to be considered a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class. Example Duties/Responsibilities: Prepares the drivers--- daily ride schedule on a fair and consistent basis, working with the Department Supervisor on available drivers for each week; Serves as an additional driver when needed to take rides; Assist with training the new hires on the road; Takes calls requesting bus service; determines availability and proximity of vehicle; Advises caller and bus driver of approximate pick-up time and location; Provides information and assistance regarding service; compiles, prepares and presents regular required reports to the Department Supervisor related to bus services provided; Works with the Department Supervisor on the maintenance schedule of the buses; Assists in arranging for the repair of the buses and other departmental equipment as needed; Perform other duties as assigned or required. Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma/GED. Six months as a dispatcher for a bus, taxi or trucking business company preferred. Knowledge/Skills Familiarity of Township roads, streets, subdivisions, and services; Familiarity with two-way radio frequencies and computer operations; Familiarity with record keeping, file maintenance and related techniques; Familiarity with computer operation and software capable of meeting the needs and requirements of the job; Familiarity with public relations, community relations and community service goals and objectives; Ability to direct bus drivers to addresses and locations through-out the Township; Excellent communication skills to collaborate with others under any type of condition; Ability to multitask with different, and sometimes conflicting, events happening at the same time; Ability to work under stress and remain calm and to calm other people during rapidly changing circumstances; Ability to relay information in a fat-paced environment. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: Possess and maintain valid Chauffeurs drivers; CDL preferred.
